One of our main objectives this trip is to install acoustic panels in the worship center at Comas Church. J.Mac Brown and Ben Wright have been leading this project, with help from John Farkas and myself.
Progress on the acoustic treatment install has been slow. We found out the day before we left that the materials we ordered were not available yet and would not make it in time for us to complete the job. This forced us to accept a product that was not equal in specifications to what we were expecting. As a result we have had to re do our design and modify the product to make it work. Even though we have modified how we are wrapping the panels with fabric, they are still giving us problems in the way they are mounting to the wall ... they are just not as rigid as what we had ordered. In spite of these challenges, J.Mac and Ben have been doing a great job, doing most of the work installing the panels while managing four workers provided by the church. John Farkas used his ingenuity to create a “jig” that they are able to use to speed up the mounting process so they don’t have to measure each time they are hanging a new row. We also have production stations set up for different parts of the fabrication process, for example, a fabric cutting station, panel frame building station, and a panel assembly station. Everyone seems to be pleased with the aesthetic look of the panels as well as the acoustic properties they exhibit however, we still have quite a bit of work to do to complete the project. Please pray that we will be able to finish well before the celebration on Friday evening, as well as for Ben Wright who seems to have developed a sinus cold.
Thanks for your support and may God richly bless you!
Bendiciones!
